Aesthetic Medicine Practitioner
Dr Nicolina Bardou is a general practitioner specialising in Aesthetic Medicine at the Cosmetic Dermatology Centre. Her scope of practice includes minimally invasive procedures such as botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid-based fillers. She has a holistic, evidence-based approach, using injectables to enhance natural beauty as well as to treat clinical conditions such as hyperhidrosis, bruxism, chronic headaches and hair loss. She also has a special interest in prejuvenation, and heads up the Cosmetic Dermatology Centre youth programme for patients between the ages of 20-35 who want to preserve their natural beauty.
In addition to her medical degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT), she holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MSc (Med) in Neuroscience from UCT. In 2010, she was a recipient of a Commonwealth Scholarship to the University of Oxford, where she completed an MSc in Environmental Change and Management with a focus on public health.
She grew up between Cape Town and Boston, where her father was a professor at both UCT and Harvard University. Being surrounded by academics and researchers instilled in her a passion for research and evidence-based clinical practice. Her international upbringing has instilled a love of travel, which she shares with her Australian husband and their young son. Her passion for the aesthetic extends to the canvas and sketchpad, and she is happiest with a paint brush or drawing pencil in her hand.
