Brad Griffiths obtained his undergraduate medical degree from Stellenbosch University in 2005, graduating as the top student in internal medicine. After completing internship in KZN and community service in the rural Eastern Cape, he spent 2 years working in emergency medicine, intensive care and anaesthesia in Sydney, Australia.
He went on to specialise in internal medicine at Groote Schuur Hospital, obtaining his MMed degree from UCT, followed by subspecialist cardiology training at Tygerberg Hospital, where he obtained his MPhil degree and stayed on as a consultant in the Division of Cardiology after completing his training in 2017. He obtained an MPhil from Stellenbosch University for research into how pre-eclampsia affects the heart.
Dr Griffiths regularly presents at local and international cardiology congresses and has published in local and international journals. He has received multiple awards for academic presentations, and in 2017 was awarded the RC Fraser Fellowship to spend a month at the Guys and St Thomas’ interventional cardiology unit in London involved in the TAVI programme.
